Senior Pastor

Alfred M. Walker

By the divine providence of God, Reverend Alfred M. Walker was affirmed by the congregation to serve as the Senior Pastor of Bonnie View Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on September 18, 2016.  He accepted the call to serve and officially began his service on October 2, 2016.  Rev. Walker brings to his position 20 years of senior pastor experience.  For ten years prior to coming to Bonnie View, his pastoral assignment was as the Senior Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

Rev. Walker was reared in Augusta, Georgia.  He is a graduate of Morehouse College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion, and a Master of Divinity degree from Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center, both in Atlanta, Georgia.  In addition, he has been accepted into a doctoral program at Brite Divinity School, which is located on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rev. Walker has served as Pastor and Chaplain with Baylor Scott & White Health since August 2010.  He has served as a clinical Chaplain in Georgia at the University Medical Center of Augusta, and now in Texas.  With Baylor Scott & White Health, he served as Chaplain and Faith Community Liaison with the Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute for four years prior to joining the Dr. Wilson Weatherford Geriatrics Chaplaincy Program and Faith Community Health Initiative.  He is a Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains.

Rev. Walker has served on numerous community and civic boards in Georgia and Texas, including the N.A.A.C.P., African-American Pastors’ Coalition, Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance, South Dallas H.O.P.E. Initiative, and the St. Philip’s School & Community Center.  He is a strong believer in ministering outside the four walls of the sanctuary, and considers it a blessing that his employment with Baylor Scott & White Health enables him to minister to the community.  Rev. Walker has a pastor’s heart as well as a servant’s heart, and he believes that you can teach without preaching, but you cannot preach without teaching.  He is a published author, and has received specialized training for the black church.

Rev. Walker is married to Angela Bedford Walker, and they are the parents of Azaria Ruth, Alfred Mark, and Aisha Renae.
